Piano Finish Repair And Touch-Up

Finish Touch-Up

Finish touch up is done to repair dents, dings and scratches on a piano’s finish. The piano finishes come in two basic types: polyester and lacquer. The finish touch-up technician must be adept at working with both finish types.

Lacquer Finish

  • Obtaining an even sounding tone throughout the entire keyboard
  • Achieving an overall brighter or softer tone
  • Allowing for a difference in tone color throughout the range of the piano or through the use of the una corda (shift or soft pedal) on a high quality grand piano.

Polyester Finish

  • Obtaining an even sounding tone throughout the entire keyboard
  • Achieving an overall brighter or softer tone
  • Allowing for a difference in tone color throughout the range of the piano or through the use of the una corda (shift or soft pedal) on a high quality grand piano.
